After losing their division one status, Lancashire are trading as favourites in County Championship Division 2 cricket betting. Despite all their problems in the top flight last season, winning just one match all term, they [perhaps weren’t so bad that they can’t come straight back up. The problem for Lancashire last season was turning tight situations to their favourite, drawing a joint league-high ten matches in the season, which hindered them somewhat. They looked a little lightweight in the bowling department for life in the top flight, but it could translate well back down in the second tier of English county cricket.
So while Lancashire may well be looking forward to a good season chasing promotion, Worcestershire, who were relegated along with them, don’t look quite so much of a promising prospect. Indeed, they may well struggle to rise above any mid table status by the balance of their squad. Like Lancashire, they won just once last season in the top flight but barely registered anything with the bat, losing half of all their games played. On the flip side, their bowling wasn’t bad, but the batting line up is a big weakness for Worcestershire, and could be again unless their add to their ranks.
So it may be worth looking at Kent for some value in County Championship Division Two cricket betting next season. They put together a pretty cohesive and solid season last term in the second tier. They fell just a little short though, but solid enough to keep themselves in contention for promotion for most of the way. They should have something big to build on and could well make a run for promotion and the top of the table, and the do present some good value to do so by the looks of it.
Along with Kent, Hampshire make an interesting prospect for the 2013 County Championship Division 2 season. They have big assets in their squad and also a winning mentality. That was proven last season when they did a cup double, taking the T20 and the CB40 titles in the 2012 season. Along with that, they put in a fourth place finish in County Championship Division 2 as well, so are likely to be back in the picture. They, like Kent are another side offering a lot of value in backing for a title run this season.
Beyond those, the rest of the County Championship Division two teams look as if they may struggle to get into the picture. Essex are missing some batting prowess, and with Glamorgan, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and bottom side Gloucestershire struggling last season, it is unlikely that any of them will mount a championship winning season and remain as long shots in the County Championship division two betting.
